Taita Taveta Russian Cultural Workshops - May 2025
Objectives
The Taita Taveta programme combined cultural learning with a practical assessment of school needs. The goal was to connect learners with Russian traditions and education pathways while identifying where partnerships could make the biggest difference.
What Happened
Path to Russia visited Ikanga Comprehensive School, Mwasere Girls Secondary School, Kirindinyi Comprehensive School, and Mbololo Secondary School. Each visit included a formal welcome, a Russian cultural overview, interactive Q&A, and discussions with school leaders.
Key Moments
Across the four schools, the team found strong student interest but recurring barriers: underfunded feeding programmes, incomplete or damaged sanitation facilities, limited ICT equipment, unequipped science rooms, overcrowded boarding spaces, and unfenced compounds exposed to safety risks.
Why It Mattered
The visits turned cultural exchange into a clear development roadmap. Priorities include WASH upgrades, repaired classrooms, dining spaces, science and ICT resources, feeding support, and formal partnerships that can be monitored over time.
