We keep it simple.
We're a small organisation. When you get in touch, we save your email so we can write back. That's genuinely the most interesting thing happening in our data practices.

The short version
Fill in the contact form and we receive your name and email. Sign up for the newsletter and we get your email address. We use these to reply to you — that's the whole loop.
We have no user accounts, no payment processing on this site, and no advertising infrastructure. There isn't much to track even if we wanted to.
What we collect
Contact form: your name, email address, and the message you wrote to us.
Newsletter signup: your email address only.
Site analytics: we use Vercel Analytics to understand how people find and use the site. It records page views, referrer source, country, and browser type — in aggregate. It is privacy-preserving by design: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal identifiers. We see numbers, not individuals.
Server logs: Vercel, our hosting provider, records standard access logs as part of normal infrastructure operations — IP addresses, timestamps, and pages requested. These are controlled by Vercel under their own privacy policy.
We do not collect payment details, identity documents, or location data. Donation platforms and partner forms linked from this site handle their own transactions independently.
How we use it
Contact form submissions are used to reply to your message — nothing else. We don't add you to any list or follow up unless you explicitly ask.
Newsletter subscribers receive programme updates and news from Path to Russia. We send these infrequently, a few times a year at most, and only about our work. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Analytics data helps us understand which pages are most useful, how people arrive at the site, and what to improve. We only ever see aggregated figures.
We do not use your information for advertising, automated profiling, or any decisions that affect you. We do not share it with partner organisations, county education offices, or government bodies.
Who has access
Your information is handled by the Path to Russia team — a small group based in Kenya. We limit access to the people who need it for their role.
We use Resend for email delivery. When you submit the contact form, your message is routed through Resend's infrastructure to reach our inbox. Resend processes this on our behalf under its own privacy policy.
If you've subscribed to our newsletter, your email address is held by our newsletter platform, which we use to manage your subscription and send emails.
Vercel hosts this website and processes anonymous traffic data through Vercel Analytics.
We do not sell your data or share it with any other third parties — including partner schools, county authorities, or government offices.
Cookies and tracking
This is a static website with no user logins, shopping carts, or session-based features. We don't set any functional or tracking cookies of our own.
Vercel Analytics tracks page-level traffic without placing any cookies on your device. It uses a privacy-preserving method that cannot identify individual visitors or follow you across websites.
We don't run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or any advertising network scripts. If you use a tracker-blocking browser extension, it will not encounter conflicts on this site.
Data retention
Contact form messages are retained for as long as we reasonably need them to follow up and maintain organisational records — typically up to 24 months from receipt. We review and delete older correspondence periodically.
Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Doing so removes you from the list immediately.
Traffic analytics data is retained by Vercel under their own retention policy. We do not store individual visit records ourselves.
If you ask us to delete your personal data, we will do so within 30 days.
Your rights
Under Kenya's Data Protection Act 2019, you have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, to have inaccuracies corrected, to request deletion, and to object to how we're using your information.
To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@pathtorussia.org. We will respond within 14 working days and will not charge or penalise you for asking.
If you subscribed to our newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we've sent.
If you believe we've mishandled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update the 'Last updated' date above. Changes that meaningfully affect how we use personal data — such as introducing a new third-party tool — will be noted clearly.
We don't send policy-update emails. The version on this page is always the current one.
Still have questions?
We respond to every message within two working days.
