About Path to Russia
Path to Russia is a grassroots nonprofit organisation operating across 11 counties in Kenya. We bring cultural exchange, education, sport and digital skills to young people who need them most — through Russian language workshops, community football tournaments, scholarship support and coding classes. Our mission is to help students and communities access a wider world of opportunity.
We are active in 11 counties: Nairobi, Busia, Siaya, Kwale, Kisii, Murang'a, Makueni, Nandi, Embu, Taita Taveta and Machakos. Our programmes are embedded in local schools, sports grounds and community spaces — not just passing through them.
Path to Russia was founded by Anna Semenova, a cultural educator and community builder with deep ties to both Kenya and Russia. The organisation grew from a personal commitment to connecting Kenyan youth with global opportunities through hands-on cultural and educational programmes.
Russia provides the cultural and educational thread that runs through our programmes — Russian language, arts, traditions and the prospect of future cultural exchange trips. For Kenyan youth, Russia represents an underexplored doorway to a wider world. Path to Russia is not a political organisation, and we have no government affiliation on either side.
Programs & Activities
We deliver four flagship programmes: Cultural Workshops (Russian language, arts and traditions taught in schools), Community Football (grassroots tournaments with a strong focus on girls in sport), Scholarship Support (tuition, mentorship and learning materials for students who need them), and Coding Classes (hands-on digital skills for young people). We are also developing future cultural exchange trips to Russia.
Our programmes are designed for young people aged 8 to 25, with a particular focus on students in secondary schools and community groups. We prioritise girls, young women and communities with limited access to cultural and educational resources. There is no selection test — participation is open and community-led.
Yes. All our programmes are free at the point of participation. Costs are covered through partnerships, sponsorships and donations. We believe access to cultural exchange and education should not depend on what a family can afford.
Our work is funded through a combination of direct donations, corporate and organisational sponsorships, school partnerships and grants. Every contribution — large or small — goes directly into programme delivery: materials, travel, coaching and mentorship.
Schools & Communities
Send us a message through our Contact page describing your school or community, the number of students you'd like us to reach, and the programme you're interested in. Our team responds within two working days, and visits are typically arranged within 3–6 weeks depending on scheduling.
A typical visit combines a structured session — a cultural workshop, a coaching day, a coding class or a community tournament — with a Q&A and community conversation. Visits last between 3 and 6 hours and are led by trained facilitators. We handle logistics; all a host needs is space and students.
There are no formal eligibility requirements. We work with registered schools, community organisations, youth groups and county-level bodies. If you are working with young people aged 8 to 25 and can provide a safe, accessible space, we would like to hear from you.
Partners & Sponsors
Use our Contact page or the Get Involved page to reach out. Let us know who you are, your area of work and how you'd like to collaborate. Our founder reviews every partnership enquiry personally and responds within two working days.
Partnerships vary by type. School partnerships focus on hosting programmes and connecting students to mentors. County partnerships involve co-funding and co-delivering at scale. Organisational partnerships can take the form of funding, advisory support, facilitation or in-kind contributions. All partnerships include regular impact reporting and public recognition.
Yes. All active partners are listed on our Partners page and acknowledged at events and in published reports. Higher-tier sponsors receive recognition in event materials, social media coverage and our media kit. We believe strong partnerships deserve visible credit.
A partner typically contributes platforms, access, expertise or in-kind support — such as a school hosting our workshops or a county office co-delivering a programme. A sponsor contributes financial support to a specific programme, event or operational need. Both are equally valued; the terms mainly describe the nature of the contribution.
Donations & Support
You can donate via M-Pesa, bank transfer or our online donation link. Visit our Contact page or the Get Involved page to request donation details. We are also setting up a dedicated online payment portal and will announce it when it launches.
Yes. We accept international donations via bank transfer and are enabling additional international payment methods. If you are donating from outside Kenya and need specific account details or documentation for compliance purposes, contact us directly and we will assist.
Donations go directly to programme delivery — scholarships for individual students, materials for cultural workshops and coding classes, equipment for football tournaments, and travel costs for facilitators. We keep administrative costs low and publish an annual impact report detailing exactly how funds are used.
No. Every amount makes a difference. A small recurring gift can sustain one student's scholarship for a term. A larger gift can fund an entire community tournament or workshop series. We welcome donors at every level.
Media & Press
Contact us in advance through our Contact page with your publication or outlet, the event you'd like to cover and the type of coverage you are planning. We are open to media coverage and can arrange accreditation, access and introductions at events.
Our media kit — including logos, photography, organisational background and key facts about our programmes — is available on our Resources page. If you need additional materials or high-resolution assets not included in the kit, contact us directly.
Yes. Our founder Anna Semenova is available for interviews on the organisation's work, cultural exchange in Kenya, education and youth development. Media requests can be submitted through our Contact page. We aim to confirm availability within two working days.
