Siaya Cultural Workshops - Second Edition
Objectives
The second Siaya edition returned to deepen relationships, introduce Russian language activities, and document practical needs across four schools.
What Happened
The team visited Segere Mixed Secondary, Obambo Mixed Secondary, Ng'ura Primary, and Siaya Central Primary. Activities included Russian alphabet sessions, cultural Q&A, Cyrillic wristband making, the Russian dance Rucheek, and formal participation in Siaya Central's AGM.
Key Moments
Segere and Obambo students responded with energetic questions and shared local Sheng words in return. Ng'ura welcomed a follow-up visit, while Siaya Central publicly discussed the School Bus Initiative and requested deeper Russian language and exchange programming.
Why It Mattered
This edition showed continuity. The work moved beyond one-time exposure toward sustained relationships with school leaders, county education contacts, and learners asking for regular global learning opportunities.
