Kisii County Cultural Workshops - June-July 2025
Objectives
The Kisii visit introduced Russian language and culture to learners while assessing how school infrastructure and welfare gaps affect daily learning.
What Happened
Path to Russia worked with Entanda, Motonto, and Mosocho schools from 30 June to 1 July 2025. Learners practiced Russian greetings, explored Cyrillic sounds, asked questions, and joined lively cultural sessions.
Key Moments
Motonto learners responded strongly enough for 34 students to enroll in a Russian Club. At Mosocho, more than 100 learners took part despite severe overcrowding and limited learning resources. Across the schools, teachers and students showed energy, curiosity, and openness to continued engagement.
Why It Mattered
The visits made visible a pattern of opportunity and constraint: strong learners and committed teachers working with too few computers, no feeding programmes, crowded classrooms, and documentation gaps that reduce funding.
