ICS Technical College Russian Language Programme Kicks Off

What Happened

On Wednesday, 15 July 2026, Path to Russia and Moscow Polytechnic University launched the Russian Language Programme at ICS Technical College — the first class session following the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Path to Russia and the college earlier in July. The Registrar Academics welcomed the milestone on behalf of ICS Technical College, recognizing Path to Russia for facilitating the partnership with Moscow Polytechnic University and the new academic and cultural opportunities it opens for students.

Erick Ochieng, Coordinator of Path to Russia, addressed the students and confirmed that the course would run free of charge for its first three months, removing the usual financial barrier to language study. Students then met their instructor, Anastaciia of Moscow Polytechnic University, over a live Zoom call — she introduced herself, answered questions, and encouraged the class to make the most of the opportunity for future academic exchange.

A Direct Line to Russia

The programme runs as a three-month online course for an inaugural cohort of up to 40 students. Those who complete it receive certification from Moscow Polytechnic University, and top performers can compete for partial or full scholarships to study in Russia — turning a free evening class into a credible pathway toward international education and employment. Path to Russia has also signalled plans for a specialised technology track with Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics for IT students, and a similar programme is already running at Michuki National Polytechnic.

Why It Matters

A signed agreement only matters once students are in the room — or, in this case, on the call. The Zoom introduction turned a partnership on paper into a working relationship between ICS students and their instructor in Moscow, and gave the college's Russian language programme a real start date. For Path to Russia, it is proof that its higher-education partnerships convert into structured, ongoing access for Kenyan students, not just one-off signing ceremonies.
